The Head Men's Basketball Coach of the Mary Baldwin University Fighting Squirrels, Daniel Eacho, just completed his first year as the leader of the program. Under his guidance, MBU Men's Basketball secured its third straight winning season in 2024-25, while earning a home playoff victory over Brevard. Eacho came to Mary Baldwin after completing his third year at D2, Millersville University near Lancaster, PA.
Prior to the 2023-24 season, Eacho was promoted to Associate Head Coach of the men's program at Millersville. A former all-conference basketball player with a winning track record as an assistant coach, Daniel Eacho joined the Millersville staff prior to the 2021-22 season and made an immediate impact, helping the Marauders to a PSAC East title, a PSAC runner-up finish and an NCAA Tournament appearance. Additionally, during the 2023-24 season, Eacho helped Millersville win a share of the PSAC East title and its 2nd NCAA Tournament appearance in three years.
Eacho brings deep ties to the "DMV" basketball hotbed of Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia where Millersville has had tremendous success in recruiting under his former boss, Casey Stitzel. Eacho played his collegiate career at Roanoke College and coached at two colleges and a pair of high schools in the region. Eacho came to Millersville after working the previous three seasons at Hampden-Sydney College in the highly-competitive ODAC. It was his second stint at the school after getting his college coaching start there in 2016-17 before departing for a graduate assistantship at Salisbury.
At Hampden-Sydney, Eacho helped the program orchestrate an impressive turnaround, going from 4-19 in 2018-19 to 14-13 record and trip to the ODAC quarterfinals the following year. As the program's academic advisor, he oversaw a GPA increase from 2.7 to 3.21. Additionally, Eacho was integral in recruiting the core group that helped lead H-SC to the D3 National Championship game during the 2023-24 season.
While earning a master's degree in business administration, Eacho helped Salisbury to an 18-9 record, producing a pair of All-CAC players in 2017-18.
Before entering the collegiate ranks, Eacho served as the girls varsity head coach at Fuqua School in Farmville, Va., in 2016-17, and he got his start in coaching as an assistant boys varsity coach at Monacan High School in Richmond. There, he helped the team to a Group 4A State Championship with a 21-9 record.
As a player at Roanoke, Eacho earned All-ODAC First Team honors in 2013-14 and third team recognition in 2014-15. He was voted the ODAC Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a senior and served as a team captain twice. He graduated with 3.58 GPA and a bachelor's degree in political science and history in 2015.
